Light guide plate new technology to support LED lights

Chen Junyan, a researcher at the Nanomaterials Center of the South Branch of the Taiwan Industrial Technology Research Institute, said that the Institute of Industrial Science and Technology combined with two-phase dynamic cross-linking processing technology to combine micro-nano-light-guided particles with different refractive indices and good dispersion. The force substrate is blended to form a highly uniform light-scattering light guide plate. With the side-in LED light source, the LED surface light source light guide plate with anti-glare and high light guiding effect is made.

Chen Junyan said that LED lamps made of 60 square centimeter surface light guides can slightly exceed the T5 daylight lamps of the same size; they are energy-saving, lighter and thinner.

He said that the light guide plate products of the same nature mostly spread the light source by adding micro-structures on the board surface, and the cost of mold-opening manufacturing is relatively high. A 60-square-cm light guide plate may cost NT$1,000. Using the materials developed by ITRI, the same size of the board, the cost can be reduced to less than 200 yuan. Chen Junyan pointed out that this technology can also be applied to advertising billboards, light boxes, signage or decorative art. ITRI ​​has transferred technology to private manufacturers, and coached manufacturers from the acrylic manufacturing industry, into the production of LED lighting panels, making the traditional industry more competitive.
