Overview
The MAX8663 power management IC (PMIC) is an efficient, compact device for smart mobile phones, PDAs, Internet applications, and other portable devices. The device integrates two synchronous buck regulators, one boost regulator that can drive two to seven white LEDs, four low-dropout linear regulators (LDOs), and one for single-cell Li-Ion (Li+) batteries. Linear charger.
Maxim's Smart Power Selector® (SPS) distributes energy safely between external power supplies (AC adapters, auto adapters or USB power supplies), batteries and system loads. When the system load peak exceeds the external power supply capability, additional current is supplied by the battery. When the system load demand is reduced, the excess energy of the external power supply can charge the battery. The overheat limit circuit limits battery charging speed and external supply current to prevent overheating. The PMIC also allows the system to operate without a battery or without a battery.
The MAX8662 is available in a 6mm x 6mm, 48-pin TQFN package. The MAX8663 is LED-free and available in a 5mm x 5mm, 40-pin TQFN package.
