Akasol plans to showcase its first column battery system at this week's European Battery Show

According to foreign media reports, Akasol plans to showcase its first column battery system at this week's Battery Show Europe with an energy density of 221 Wh/kg. Thanks to its modular construction, the AKAModule 60 CYC can be used to create high-energy-density battery systems that enable commercial vehicles such as intercity coaches, buses and trucks to complete long journeys while extending battery life. Akasol will introduce a 40 kWh AKASYSTEM 15 AKM 60 CYC at the show.

The AKAModule 60 CYC is a compact design that matches the size of the PHEV2 standard module and can be built into the battery system environment. Compared to other high energy density battery solutions, the 2.66-kWh battery module has an energy density of 433 W/kg and high cycle stability. The new battery module will be used for the first time in custom application testing by the end of 2018, and mass production of the module will be realized in the future.

Today, the high-performance battery system and prismatic batteries (prismaTIc cells) are available, and the new high-energy-density battery system is compatible with standard liquid cooling systems that do not contain toxic chemicals.

In addition, Akasol is developing a water-glycol mixed solution that is used in a variety of automotive applications worldwide, such as engine coolants.

Akasol will showcase three lithium-ion battery systems that are the same size and have 15 battery modules built in, but with different battery technologies to match the PHEV2 standard modules. When there is a change in demand for changes in battery performance, power or cycle stability in the future, users only need to exchange battery systems.

The company will also showcase the AKASYSTEM 15 OEM 50 PRC and AKASYSTEM 15 AKM 60 CYC battery systems at this show. It is expected that the above two systems will provide sample applications (sample applicaTIons) by the end of this year, and Akasol also plans to mass-produce.
