Connection of TDA1521 to OTL Circuit

Philips' TDA1521 dual-channel audio power amplifier integrated circuit has a very good reputation among audiophiles for its good sound quality and easy production. TDA1521 uses a nine-pin single in-line plastic package, output power, two-channel gain difference is small, there is overheating overload short circuit protection and other functions.

In actual circuit applications, the internal resistance of the power supply for the TDA1521 is less than 4 ohms to ensure that the load short-circuit protection circuit can operate reliably. The TDA1521 must be equipped with a heat sink of not less than 200mm & TImes; 100mm & TImes; 2mm. Do not attempt to connect the output of the TDA1521 to the input during the debugging process. Otherwise, the manifold will burn down quickly.

TDA1521 characteristic parameters : (Vcc=±16V RL=8Ω f=1KHz Ta=25°C)
1. Supply voltage: Vcc = ±7.5 - ±20V Recommended value: ±15V
2. Output power: Po = 2 & TImes; 12W (THD = 0.5%) Po = 30 W in BTL format
3, voltage gain: Gv = 30dB
4, channel isolation: CT = 70dB 5, the output noise voltage: Vno = 70uV (Rg = 2KΩ)

The single power connection is commonly used in ordinary audio equipment. Because these electrical equipments are only designed with a single power output, the TDA1521 must be connected to such an OTL circuit. The speaker is connected to the power amplifier through the output capacitor.

When a single power supply is used, the power filter capacitor should be located as close as possible to the power supply of the IC to avoid self-excitation in the circuit.
