TDK is the first to introduce a 7-axis IMU sensor

On October 25, 2017, TDK was the first to introduce the InvenSense ICM-20789 MEMS 7-axis integrated inertial device with 3-axis gyroscope, 3-axis accelerometer and ultra-low noise MEMS capacitive air pressure sensor. According to reports, the component's pressure noise is the industry's lowest 0.4 PaRMS, taking up less memory, reliable temperature stability, and a temperature coefficient of ±0.5 Pa/°C.

The low temperature coefficient of the ICM-20789 allows temperature-stabilized capacitive pressure sensors to measure very small differential pressures of ±1 Pa, allowing the ICM-20789 to detect height variations of less than 5 cm. This pressure-noise performance improves drone height retention and enables more accurate tracking of height changes in wearable devices, navigation and fitness applications.

The latest high-performance 6-axis motion sensor inside the ICM-20789 integrates the finest rotation and linear motion tracking while simplifying the fusion of sensor signals. Motion sensor and pressure sensor integration can be quickly implemented in a wide range of applications, including wearable motion monitoring, gesture recognition for AR/VR and gaming applications, and step/stair counting for fitness applications.
