According to Huang Wenjie, project manager of Hubei Mobile's 5G project construction office, Wuhan was listed as the first batch of 5G pilot cities in China at the beginning of this year. It plans to complete the construction of over 100 5G base stations this year. It is mainly distributed in the three regions of Optics Valley, Hankou River Beach and Hankou Railway Station. Among them, Optics Valley is the largest 5G base station distribution area. Huang Wenjie said that the first batch of projects in Optics Valley is progressing smoothly. At present, 12 base stations have been completed, and the remaining eight will be completed by the end of June. By then, there will be conditions for 5G testing.

According to the "Wuhan 5G Base Station Planning and Construction Implementation Plan" announced by the Wuhan Municipal Government in April, Wuhan will fully open all kinds of municipal public resources, build 3,000 macro base stations and more than 27,000 micro base stations, and build a 5G network covering the whole city in 2020.
